Back in Lake Erie

We stayed 2 nights in Algonac and enjoyed the pool in-between raindrops. Had a wonderful dinner at Catch 22. We looked at the weather forecast for the upcoming days and decided it was best to head out on Wednesday morning. Headed the rest of the way down the St. Clair River, through Lake St. Clair and down the Detroit River out into Lake Erie. I loved the Detroit River with the view of so many beautiful homes and the freighter traffic.  I have always been a huge fan of the lake/ocean freighters. We passed many and followed one from Winnipeg for a distance. Joe Lewis Arena, home of the Detroit Redwings, is on the waterfront.
Lake Erie was breezy but we finally had the winds to our back. We headed for the islands and anchored in a bay just off of Middle Bass Island Wednesday night. Thursday morning the winds really kicked up so we headed to Kelly Island to anchor in a bay there. About 7 sailboats had the same idea as it was a great location.
Friday we had reservations at the Middle Bass Island Marina, so we headed over right after breakfast. We took the ferry to Put-In-Bay and were serenaded by a group from the National Barbershop Harmony Society. They have been coming here every August for years getting together and enjoying time in the Lake Erie Islands. Once at Put-In-Bay we stopped at my favorite Tiki Bar - Mojito Bay, then off to dinner. On the way back to Middle Bass the skies opened up, what a deluge! We were lucky that an islander had a vehicle and after we arrived by ferry he drove us back to the marina.
It's Saturday morning and we are awaiting the arrival of Pilot Lounge from our home port in Buffalo.
