Change of plans
Since our last post the weather has not cooperated and the section of the canal we needed to have open will not open until approximately June 26, barring any additional rain. Several other loopers decided they were going to lay their boats up at a marina and fly home for a few weeks. Because we weren't very far into the trip we decided to turn around and head back to Lake Erie and go through the Welland Canal to gain access to Lake Ontario.
After leaving Fairport we headed to Newark, NY and that is where we received the news that the canal would not reopen anytime soon. We headed back and stayed in Brockport and Tonawanda. We met "Gold loopers" (loopers that have completed the loop) in Brockport.
Our initial plan included a trip to the 1000 Island's where our daughter was going to join us. She visited us in Tonawanda, celebrating Father's Day.
Tomorrow morning we will head to Port Colborne, Ontario to sign up for passage in the Welland Canal.

It was no 1000 islands, but I'm glad I got to spend time on the boat with you! Looking forward to your thoughts on the Welland Canal!
