Heading up Lake Huron

It's a recurring theme with the weathermen...scattered thunderstorms, winds 15-20 mph, waves 2-4 feet, so it makes us second guess if we should head out or stay put. So each morning we get up, listen to the weather, look at the weather map and decide to go for it. So far we have been lucky and have missed the t-storms.

Saturday we headed to Port Huron, 30 miles from Algonac and 3 miles shy of Lake Huron. We biked around town and went to a classic car show. It reminded us of the days when we had a '69 Z/28.
I had just asked Mark earlier in the day when he thought we would run into our first loopers...we thought it would be closer to Mackinac but low and behold there were 2 looper boats in the marina. Doyle and Christy on Abaco Lady are from Alaska (now beating out loopers we met from Seattle as the furthest away), Robbie & Julia on Tranquilo II are from Florida.

Sunday morning Lake Huron had calmed a little so we headed 34 miles to Port Sanilac. When we got there they were having a concert in the park, we sat and listened to some great classic rock from the 70's. Doyle and Christy ended up at Port Sanilac also, so we got together for docktails.

Monday we set out for Port Austin, winds were calm but the rollers on the lake were anywhere from 3-5 feet. It finally settled down and we enjoyed the rest of the ride to the town. We met loopers Jim & Cindy on The Journey who just started out 2 weeks ago from Ohio. We stayed Tuesday and took a bike ride to the outskirts of town for some home grown corn on the cob. Definietly worth the ride and on the way back we stopped at an old house converted into a B&B, restaurant and bar for a cold drink. It's a very historic building as President Garfield use to give talks there.

Our plan for Wednesday is to go 100 miles to Presque Isle and stay on the hook.
