Macatawa Lake (Holland, MI)

We had a pleasant ride over on Thursday and took a ride around Macatawa Lake, which is home to some more beautiful houses in Michigan. We stayed at the Anchorage Marina & Yacht Club, which has a restaurant and swimming pool. While here we biked, walked to the top of Mt. Pisgah (sand dune), cleaned and did some maintenance during the rainstorms. The marina is about 6 miles from Holland, MI. and unfortunately the weather didn't present a window large enough for us to bike there.

As predicted the rains and winds came on Saturday and also tornados to the east of us (about 30 miles away). Sunday was more winds and scattered showers so we stayed put. We biked to Lake Michigan and she was definitely an "angry lake". Mark spoke to one of the dock hands and told him he never thought the Lake would calm enough for us to leave on Monday and the dock hand said, "Lake Michigan does funny things, you'll get out". He was right...we got up Monday morning and the winds were calm and the lake presented a beautiful ride.

Now they were predicting another wind/rain event for Tuesday and Wednesday. Our initial plans were to anchor in Saugatuck for a day and then go to South Haven to meet up with a Sea Ray rendezvous for the weekend. With the weather forecast we decided to take a ride down the river to see Saugatuck (another quaint town described as the "art coast") and then go directly to South Haven. We will be in South Haven until Sunday.

It was like a scene from "The Birds", the seagulls
