We stayed at Tobin Harbor which was just a dinghy ride and quick walk over to Rock Harbor. The majority of the visitors come to Rock Harbor where there is a marina, small store, restaurant and lodge.

by the National Park Service.
You can bring boats 20' or less over from Houghton, MI.
People "boat camp", some of the camping areas have
docks accessible to small boats.

Hiking along Rock Harbor to Suzy's Cave
It was a hot day so the coolness of the cave felt great!
As we made our way back to the boat by dinghy,
this calf showed up
Then momma showed up too!
We watched them for awhile from the boat as they
ate and walked along the waters edge
We sat with our feet in the water for seconds,
the water temp was 53 degrees - you couldn't
leave your feet in long but it cooled the core!
We were anchored right across from the seaplane
dock and watched them land and take off
Lookout Louise
As we made our way down the trail from Lookout
Louise we spotted this cow moose
As we left Tobin Harbor, Mark was surprised to
see this bird sitting on a rock in the channel
As it moved he realized it was a bull moose
swimming across the channel. Moose are great
swimmers and thats how they originally came to
Isle Royale, they swam from the mainland, about 15 miles away.

I had bow detail, looking for rocks as we entered
Chippewa Harbor. Lake Superior's waters are
extremely clear, rocks and boulders can be spotted
from the bow.
