We had a wonderful visit Saturday night with fellow loopers Mike, Becky, Greg & Karen from True North along with Jim & Mandy from Shell Belle. Mike and Becky were in town for a conference, Greg & Karen are renting a house here in Marathon. We traveled with them when we did the loop and it was great to reconnect!
We had our first rain in quite sometime on Sunday morning as we made our way to breakfast with some of the boaters. We thought we'd get there just ahead of the rain but it caught us and we (actually me) looked pretty disheveled by the time we got to the restaurant. Oh well, it provided a nice natural rinse on the boats. Sunday night a group of us headed over to Marathon Grill and Ale House to watch the football game. The New England-Kansas City game proved to be entertaining but unfortunately Kansas City lost in OT. Being from Buffalo we are not New England fans and therefore we will be routing for the Rams in the big game!
Tuesday night Mel & Ann from Morningstar II organized a "low country boil" for dinner on the dock. You heat a large pot of water over an outdoor cooker and add potatoes, sausage, corn, onions, shrimp and then you're suppose to pour the contents out onto a picnic table covered with newspaper and enjoy! We had about 40 people attend and due to strong winds they emptied the contents into a huge cooler where we scooped the food onto our plates! For dessert Mel made orange sherbet and added pineapple...everything was delicious.
We are now in weather watch mode, we have a week left here at Faro Blanco but if the weather cooperates we will leave early to make a Bahama crossing.
