On the Water Again

Just like the Willie Nelson song "On the Road Again", we couldn't wait to get on the water again. "Goin' places that I've never  been...Seein' things I may never see again".
Last year after nearly 3 months doing the Northern section of the loop we got the bug. Over the winter the planning started and the date for our departure was picked - first good weather window after July 23rd (due to family and friend obligations). We couldn't have picked a better time as it ended up being a big week for Mark. We celebrated his birthday July 16, he retired July 21 and we set off on our dream adventure July 24th.

Once again our dock mates on "M" dock cheered us on as we loaded the dinghy and left our home port. This was a bittersweet moment for us as we are so happy to continue our dream of doing the Great Loop but sad saying goodbye to "M" dock. Our marina is suppose to be reconfiguring all the docks and "M" dock will be no more. We all have great memories and have made so many wonderful friendships there over the past 22 years. So next year maybe a new beginning for all at our home port.

Lake Erie provided calm winds and a mirror like effect as we slowly pulled away with warm temps (high 80's) and sunshine. A few of our friends followed us out on their way to the beach.
We landed in Erie, PA and anchored in the bay. A mere 82 miles more on the way to some 6,000 miles by the time we finish the loop.

Our plan is to get into Lake Huron rather quickly. We have visited the sights in Lake Erie many times and although we have some favorites we are ready to experience new towns along the way.
The weather forcast this morning was calling for thunderstorms, so we are staying put in the bay until they pass. After the thunderstorms passed the winds picked up and we decided to stay put and get an early start Tuesday morning.

Thanks again to all of our family and friends for supporting us on our adventure and we will keep you posted on Captains Choice adventures.
