Arizona - Camp Verde

When we looked at the weather before we left Tucson on Friday 4/18, we knew we might run into some rain and cooler weather. When we got closer to Camp Verde it did begin to rain. The one good thing about all the rain was it helped clean all the trail dust off our rig. The low temperature after dinner of 37 was a bit of a shock, but the rest of our time here was forecasted to be much better, and it was.

I have a sister Kathy, nieces & nephews that live in the Phoenix area and we have visited here many times, so we didn't do the normal "Phoenix sightseeing" that most others might do. My sisters Maureen and Tish and her husband Brian also flew into Phoenix so we could all vacation together in Camp Verde. We stayed at the Camp Verde RV Resort, while they stayed about 20 minutes away at another resort. What a wonderful time was had by all! We did some golfing, horseback riding, hiking, kayaking and celebrated Easter with all of our Arizona family.

On Easter Sunday Mark & I played golf with Tish & Brian.

The course was right next to their resort.

The scenery from the golf course was breathtaking.

This is a house with an infinity pool on a par 3 hole.

We wondered how many try to hit the pool instead of the green.

Easter Sunday

Maureen, Ed, Kathy, Tish, Brian, Ollie, Jax, Sean, TJ, Karen,

Mark, Wyatt, Kristina, Robert and Ava.

Monday 4/21, we went to Slide Rock State Park, just north of Sedona.

Once again, the scenery was amazing.

The park is named after the famous Slide Rock, an 

80-foot slippery chute that is worn into sandstone.

The water temperature is a cool 45 degrees, but there

were many brave souls (much younger than us), jumping,

swimming and slide down the chute.

We opted to watch all those brave enough

to get into the water.

After Slide Rock, we went to Sedona for lunch. This

was our view from the restaurant.

On Tuesday, while Kathy, Ed, Tish and Brian played golf, 

Maureen, Mark and I went kayaking on the Verde River.

The water in the Verde River was much warmer than Slide Rock. 

It was 68-72 degrees and felt refreshing.

We went through several rapids and had so much fun.

We got turned around, stuck on rocks but no one fell in!

she was on the rocks or watching me.

After kayaking we went into Cottonwood and had a 

drink at The Merkin (a winery). We walked up the stairs as

we knew our arms had gotten enough exercise, but our legs had not.

The others met us for dinner after golf and the end of our vacation together.
