Highlights of NYC

Once again we stayed at Great Kills Yacht Club on Staten Island where the people are very welcoming, friendly and always willing to drive you or lend you their car. It is also a stop for other loopers and we reconnected with Summertime, whom we looped with. Clark & Ev from Sunset Delight, who we also met on the loop and have reconnected with several times, drove over for lunch as they live in NJ. We kept missing them on our way up the east coast so we were glad they had the opportunity to drive over and see us.
The location works out great as the bus stop to get into Manhattan is less than a 1/2 mile away and gets us there anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.

We enjoyed meeting up with Allison & Eric and my sisters Kathy & Maureen several times for dinner. I was treated to the Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden as my Mother's Day gift from the kids and one of the best parts was wedding dress shopping with the bride to be. We went to 2 stores but Kleinfeld's (Say Yes to the Dress fame) was the best. While waiting for Allison to model for us we had the opportunity to view other brides trying on gowns...we all became experts on what looked best on each bride. If one of the brides said "yes to the dress" we all clapped. The funniest moment came when the bride next to us was modeling for her entourage and she said "I'll have to get some big earrings from my dad", hmmmm....well all of our heads turned quickly and as we stared at her she started laughing hysterically...looked at us with our mouths gaping and said "my dad's a jeweler". Of course that explains it and we all started laughing.
We also met Eric's family for the first time and had a happy hour with some of Allison and Eric's friends. We didn't do much NYC sightseeing, we have been here numerous times and there wasn't anything on the bucket list this time around.

The NYC trip ended up being a longer trip than we originally thought it would be...5 days turned into 11 and counting as we are still here! We ended up getting here almost a week early due to the decent weather we had moving from Cape May to Staten Island and now we are waiting for decent weather to move up the Hudson River. Sunday (Mother's Day) was when we thought we would leave but mother nature once again has different plans than us. Yesterday (Sunday) and today are miserable with temperatures in the 40's, wind chills in the high 30's - low 40's, high winds and rain, rain, rain. It's still suppose to be cool Tuesday but it looks like we will be able to leave... we will see when we get up.
