Great day for a boat ride and my sister is here!

What a great day to head out on the gulf to Naples... water like glass, calm winds and sunshine! Yes it is Florida and it does not disappoint!

My sister Maureen flew in from Buffalo Tuesday to spend 11 days with us doing the loop. After a day at Fort Myers Beach Wednesday and hitting the restaurants for shrimp and fish we are heading south towards Marathon Key with a few stops along the way. We are hopeful she will get a feel for and enjoy the "laid back looper lifestyle".

We've been here in Ft. Myers for a little over a month and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks again to our home port "M" dock friends, Hake's, Dussing's and Martin's for their hospitality.

A few fun facts that we have learned about Ft. Myers;
  • It is the county seat and commercial center of Lee County.
  • It's nickname is "City of Palms".
  • Fort Myers was one of the first forts built along the Caloosahatchee River as a base of operations against the Seminole Indians during the American Indian Wars.
  • Inventor Thomas Edison and automobile magnate Henry Ford built homes here.
